| Bas-relief Carved + Painted Folk Art Frame(s) |
| Magnificent folk art carved oak frame dated 1892, with CDV photos of what look to be Amish/Mennonite bearded men. Two of the three photos are signed by eastern Pennsylvania photographers (New Holland + Lancaster). Interesting combination of “raised” carved and cutout hearts, pinwheels + other elements. Wood is oak, stained a dark reddish-brown. There is gold-painted decoration that has darkened. Under each oval cutout for the photos are raised carved initials. Looks as if it has a varnish or shellac finish over the front side. Measures 26” X 14” X 1-1/4”. Overall condition very good, with a few small chips to the finish. SOLD ONLY AS A PAIR with Item #5064 ($2,400 for the pair), a companion frame by the same maker. |
