| "Wanderer" Box |
| Wooden cabinet/box, painted with black-trimmed gold letters, "WANDERER." The box has a slot on the top and locking door. Speculation is that it may be connected with the 19th-C. New Bedford whaling ship "Wanderer." It was found in a S.E. Massachusetts home. It may have been in a shipping agent's office, used for the collection of documents and mail while the ship was away on a whaling voyage. It measures 12.5" X 10.5" X 9.5". |
